Planting a Container or Hanging Basket

This could not be simpler- even for a complete novice!

There are 3 methods-

Choose a POP plant for the quickest and easiest way to produce a beautiful basket or pot in weeks! These are already pre-planted and the combination of plants have been tried and tested.

Use one of the wide range of ‘Cocktail’ packs- these are individual plants that need planting to the plan on the label.

Or choose your own combination of bedding and patio plants.

Here are some of our team’s favourites-

Carolyn
Nemesia they come in a wide range of colours and some are scented.

Sue G
Tumbelina petunias. These are doubles, excellent trailers, come in several colours and are scented.

Tamarin
Verbena. Great basket plant , wide variety of colours producing large clusters of flowers.

Paul
Brachyscome. Pretty daisy like flowers in blue or pink that bloom all summer.

Here are a few more tips to get you started:

Choose a suitable container with drainage. Line where appropriate with, coco fibre liner, moss and polythene or Coir liners.

Use a compost with water retaining gel or use a multi-purpose compost and add water retaining gel to it.

Select the appropriate plants, shade loving plants for a shady location, sun loving plants for a bright sunny location. Plant your container and water well, then grow in a sheltered position for a couple of weeks to allow the plants to get established.

After a month feed the container weekly during the summer with a high potash liquid feed such as MiracleGro. Do not allow to dry out. Dead head plants weekly for continual flowering.
