General / Goods In Assistant

We are looking for a practical, proactive and organised General Sales/Goods In Assistant to join our friendly team at Fairweather’s Garden Centre in Beaulieu. 

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will play an important part in supporting the smooth running of our stock operations, deliveries, yard organisation, customer service and day-to-day garden centre activity. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Goods in and goods out: overseeing deliveries, organising storage, keeping the yard tidy and safe, and supporting waste removal between our sites. 
  • Driving and deliveries: safely driving company vehicles to deliver plants and products to customers. 
  • Customer service and sales: assisting customers on the shop floor, answering queries and helping to deliver an excellent customer experience. 
  • Stock and systems: learning and using our EPOS system, assisting with stock control and helping to keep inventory accurate. 
  • General maintenance: supporting general maintenance tasks around the garden centre to help keep the site looking its best. 

Career Progression 

We believe in growing our talent from within. For the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to develop further. As you gain confidence with our stock control and EPOS systems, you will receive training and support to take on buying responsibilities, helping to select, source and manage products we sell. 

What We’re Looking For 

  • A valid, clean driving licence, essential for delivery duties 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a retail or warehouse environment 
  • An existing forklift licence, or willingness to be trained 
  • A practical, hands-on approach and confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions 
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy loads safely 
  • Good problem-solving skills 
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for excellent customer service 
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems 
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills, with good attention to detail 
  • Flexibility to work every other weekend
